Broken Promises by Voyage Yacht

Broken Promise #1
All items on the Deficiency List Signed by Ian S were listed the first week we had the boat. Ian S signed off on the bottom of the second page. Voyage Yachts mailed the chart plotter which I had to install and they printed the name decal which I had to install. #5 and #6 were minor fixes Voyage accomplished. Nothing else on the list was repaired after two years by Voyage.

Broken Promise #2
A representative from the factory sent the emails below regarding the damage to the front compression platform and cross beam. The following email confirmed Voyage would make the repair. After months of waiting for the assembly we ordered one from Sparcraft. Voyage has never reimbursed the expense. Refer to Structural Failure for Pictures.

Subject: Damaged crossbeam assembly

Dear Mark

I confirm that we have decided to supply you with a new crossbeam assembly and sort the details out with Sparcraft later. In the mean time we have forwarded the photographs to Alex Simonis for an opinion. If he needs further expert opinion, he will advise – let’s wait to hear from him before getting further expert opinion on that side.

I understand that you are insured with Steve Slatter, and I will advise him of the problem. I realise that the repair might be less than the deductible, but there is no harm in covering all bases.

Delivery of the crossbeam assy for our next 440 is imminent – we will divert delivery to Florida and order a new assy for VOYAGE.

Will advise as soon as I have firm details.

Regards

Deirdre

Subject: Damaged crossbeam assembly

Dear Mark,

Sparcraft confirmed today that they can have a crossbeam assy. ready for shipment during the first half of next week. This gives us an opportunity to obtain an opinion from Alexander Simonis and if necessary also a surveyor in Florida before shipping the parts. This will also afford us the opportunity to finalise the matter with Sparcraft before we ship or if it proves necessary, to get your insurance involved.

This will be a much less complicated way to deal with the repair and is to be preferred.

I received a copy of your report, but it doesn’t make mention of the aft section of the port compression post that (we presume) was cut off. Could you please send a photograph of this section for onward despatch to Alex Simonis and the specifics of any damage that is evident.

I would appreciate your urgent response. From our side, we acknowledge the urgency of the repair and assure you we will do what we can to assist you.

Regards

Deirdre

Broken Promise #3
The dingy davits twisted toward the sea in a one or two foot chop in Miami harbor. They were holding the dingy and motor Voyage supplied with the boat. The upper bend was too sharp and did not have any extra support posts. Ian S drove to the boat in Key West Florida to view the problem. Months later he sent a new design for davits but not the davits themselves. Once again I paid to build and install them. A year later at the Miami boat show 2006, Ian S agreed to pay for the davits if I took the description of my problem off the Voyage Owners Website. I did, but the money has not arrived yet (Jan 2007). Pictures

Non Promise #4
All the other warranty problems listed on this website have been ignored despite numerous emails and phone calls by me. Voyage USA blames Voyage South Africa for incorrect paperwork. Unfortunately no one wants to take responsibility for fulfilling the warranty.
